Servants are mobs that are owned and/or summoned by other mobs or players. All servants will not attack their owners and will attack any mob or player that harm, or harmed by, them.

If owned by mobs, servants, that aren't actively attacking, will attack whoever their owner is targeting.

Certain servants can be commanded, by hitting (attacking) them with a Wand or Staff, or right-clicked if "ownerHitCommand" within goety-spells.toml is disabled, to cycle through the movement modes from following -> wandering -> standing by -> guarding. They can only be commanded by their owners or, if their owners are an owned servant, their owner's owner.

If "ownerAttackCancel" under goety-mobs.toml is disabled, attacking servants won't damage them. This extends to attacks that are indirectly made by the owner, such as soul bolts.

If "minionMasterImmune" under goety-mobs.toml is disabled, servants won't take damage from other servants with the same owner.

Servants Types

Many servants fall under certain types, these types cause certain items to effect them such as crowns and robes.(wip)

For clarity all servants are only ever one mob type, for example icy spiders servants are only Arthropod servants despite them benefiting from a Frost Robe, this means that they do not heal from frost robes, likewise a Jungle Zombie Servant is an undead servant and not a wild servant, this means that it heals and persist from a Necro Set instead of a Wild Set even if it still benefits from a Wild Robe.

Undead

Undead Servants share the strengths and weaknesses of regular Undead mobs, such as weakness against Smite enchantment and heal using Potions of Harming. When summoned by players using a Wand or Staff they share a number of characteristics:

  • They will slowly die off, like Vexes, after a time unless their owner wears a Necro or Nameless Crown.
  • They will slowly heal themselves using their owner's soul energy if said owner wears a Necro or Nameless Cape.
  • They have a special particle effect when summoned.
  • Certain types of undead servants can be equipped with armor and weapons, that will take damage through use.
  • If on fire, they have a chance to set their target on fire if attacking in melee.(not sure if its universal undead though, doesn't seem to happen with crypt slime servants for example, additionally it seems that maybe holding an item stops this)
  • They take extra damage from the smite enchantment.

Wild/Natural

Wild servants, also known as natural servants are servants related to wild magic, all of them are capable of being healed in exchange for soul energy while wearing a wild robe.

Most temporary wild servants(with the exception of vines) can be made to persist as long as a wild crown is worn, however when the crown is taken off those servants will resume their timer and eventually disappear or decay like vexes.

Certain wild servants are able to be upgraded by summoning them while wearing a wild robe, these upgraded servants have different textures and increased stats, additionally they may be given additional traits such as inflicting a new debuff on attack.

Certain wild servants can be bred, however for them to be able to do so they must be permanent, persisting temporary servants cannot be bred.

Nether

Nether servants are servants related to nether magic, all of them are capable of being healed in exchange for soul energy while wearing a nether robe.

All temporary nether servants can be made to persist as long as a nether crown is worn, however when the crown is taken off those servants will resume their timer and eventually disappear or decay like vexes.

All nether nether servants are immune to lava and fire damage however certain types of fire may bypass this immunity.

Frost

Currently there is only one frost servant, the ice golem, they are able to be healed by frost robes in exchange for soul energy, can be upgraded when summoned while wearing a frost robe and temporary ice golems can persist so long as a frost crown is worn.

Water/Aquatic

Water servants, also known as Aquatic servants are servants related to abyss magic, all of them are capable of being healed in exchange for soul energy while wearing an Abyss Robe.

All temporary water servants can be made to persist as long as an abyss crown is worn, however when the crown is taken off those servants will resume their timer and eventually disappear or decay like vexes.

Additionally all water servants take additional damage from the impaling enchantment.

Arthropod

Certain servants are arthropods, much like wild servants they are capable of being healed in exchange for soul energy while wearing a wild robe.

Additionally all arthropod servants are vulnerable to the Bane of Arthropods enchantment.

Void

Void servants are servants associated with void magic, all void servants can be healed via soul energy when wearing a Void Robe and can be made to persist when wearing a Void Crown.

Unlike the other categories of servants, "void" is not technically an entity type, instead this category currently only includes all "AbstractEnderlings", which includes watchling, blastling, and snareling servants.

Summon Down

Main Article: Summon Down.

Summoning servants from most focuses additionally applies the effect Summon Down to the caster for a duration dependent on the focus, this effect increases the soul energy cost of all spells as well as weakening any subsequent summons. The level of summon down can stack up to limit of Summon Down V.

When summoning servants via focus while affected by summon down, the following things occur:

  • Summoned servant are not affected by the Buff effect from potency levels (notably other effects from potency are not prevented by summon down, for example Vexing Focus can still enchants the summoned vexes swords with sharpness).
  • Summoned servants are affected by an unlimited duration of Sapped and Weakness, the level of these effects is equal to the caster's summon down level.
  • If the servant spawns with damageable equipment (armour or weapons), the items will spawn missing a random amount of durability.

Summoning Servants

Servants can be summoned in multiple ways, however all summoned servants are either temporary or permanent depending on how they are summoned.

Temporary Servants

Temporary Servants can be summoned by various focuses or in certain cases brews, however all of them have a limited lifespan, once this lifespan is over the servant will either begin to decay like a vex or instantly disappear depending on the servant, however this timer can be paused indefinitely on certain servants by wearing a crown of their associated type, however if the crown be taken of the timer will resume.

Permanent Servants

Permanent Servants can be summoned in many ways, including rituals, using animation cores on certain blocks or structures, training blocks and using certain items on certain mobs.

Movement Modes

Most servants, other than vexes and irks, can be commanded into different movement modes.

Following

The default movement mode. The servant will follow their owner much like tamed wolves. Unlike tamed wolves, servants, barring vexes, cannot teleport to their owner when they're too far away.

Wandering

Servants will wander around like most mobs without following their owner under this mode.

Standing By

Also known as standby, servants will no longer move and stay in position, unless pushed, under this mode. Servants can still attack, provided that their target is in range (melee servants will attack their target if its in melee range for example).

Guarding

When a servant is set to guarding mode its current position is set as its guard position, guarding servants will wander up to 16(by default) blocks away from this position and will only target mobs within that range and will stop targeting if its target exits the area, additionally if a guarding servant exits the guarding range it will head back towards the guard point.

If a guarding servant is commanded to move and can reach its destination it will change its guard position to it. Give a Waystone to servant, it be Guarding Waystone's position.

Tips

  • Pressing Cease Fire key (Default: B), will cause all servants to stop attacking or retaliating against another entity. It does not prevent them from re-targeting any hostile/grudged entity however.
  • Most summoning spells, when cast while crouching, will teleport all available servants near the player.
    • Vexing spell, however, will cause all available vexes to die, as by default they are capable of teleporting to the player themselves.
  • Punching, or, if "ownerHitKill", under goety-spells.toml, is set to false, right clicking, a servant while crouching will cause them to instantly die.
