Obtaining
Rotting focuses are crafted using a Necroturgy Ritual.

Spell
When equipped in a Wand or Staff, the player is able to summon a zombie servant after casting.
Casting with a Necro Staff will summon 2 - 5 zombie servants at once. The Nameless Staff will summon 7 zombie servants instead, additionally casting it with a special Staff causes it to summon 2 special zombies.
Zombie servants will spawn nearby the player, and will attempt to spawn on top of the nearest floor.
Summon Types
If the spell is cast in with certain staffs, other types of zombie servants can be summoned instead:
- Casting it with a Frost Staff will summon Frozen Zombie Servants.
- Casting it with a Wild Staff will summon Jungle Zombie Servants.
- Casting it with a Nether Staff will summon Zombified Piglin Servants.
- Casting it with a Abyss Staff will summon Drowned Servants.
- Casting it with a Ominous Staff will summon Zombie Vindicator Servants.
Otherwise if the resulting zombie is slated to spawn in certain areas, other types of zombie servants can be summoned instead:
- If the the position the zombie would be summoned at is in water, it will summon as a drowned servant.
- If the zombie were to be summoned in a desert biome, under an open sky, it will summon as a Husk Servant.
- If the zombie were to be spawned in the Nether it will summon a zombified piglin servant.
- Furthermore if it is summoned in a Bastion Remnant it has a 25% chance of summoning as a Zombified Piglin Brute Servant instead.
- If the zombie were to be spawned in a woodland mansion it will summon as a zombie vindicator servant.
- If the zombie were to be spawned in a village it will summon as a Zombie Villager Servant.
- If the zombie were to be summoned in a biome capable of snowing, it will summon as a frozen zombie servant.
- If the zombie were to be summoned in a jungle biome, it has a chance to summon as a jungle zombie servant.
Summon Down
After summoning, the player will receive the Summon Down effect. Subsequent summoning while having the effect will increase the effect's level and resetting with an increased duration.
Having the summon down effect will cause newly summoned zombie servants to get Weakness and Sapped effects, with the level depending on the summon down's level.
Summon Limit
If player owns more than the summon limit of zombie servants, it prevents the rotting focus from summoning more servants.
Enchantments
Rotting focuses can be enchanted with Potency and Duration.
Potency will cause newly spawned zombie servants to get the Buff effect. The higher the level of Potency, the higher level of Buff it applies.
Duration causes newly spawned zombies to have a longer lifespan.
Ritual Ingredient
Rotting focuses are also used as an ingredient for several rituals, those being:
- Necromancer servants
